I need that doc file as it contains some vital data. So please tell me how to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance!

If your important Word document got corrupted and you are worried about its crucial data then hang on. You may not have to accept a data loss. Here are some techniques using which you can make your Word document work properly.

Method 1: Run CHKDSK

Try to run CHKDSK against the volume containing the damaged Word file. Your problem could be caused by corruption at the file system level, and CHKDSK may be able to fix the issue.

Method 2: Try exporting the file

If you are able to open the file in Word, try saving the file in an alternative formats. Sometimes, using a format like TXT or RTF will cause some of Word’s codes to be stripped from the document, which usually fixes the problem.

Method 3: Use Word’s text converter

To recover the text portion of a document make use of Word’s text converter. Click File >Open>select damaged Word document>choose Recover Text (From Any File from the Files of Type drop-down list) and open the document. This filter will import straight ASCII text from any file. However, you will lose Word formatting and non-text items such as images, graphics, etc. but you should at least be able to extract most of the text information from the file. Note that this technique is limited to documents in the Word 97-2003 format (not docx or dotx files).

Method 4: Use Open and Repair

Word XP and later versions provide an ‘Open and Repair’ option, which one can force Word to attempt a recovery. Just choose the file in the Open dialog box and select ‘Open And Repair’ from the Open drop-down list in the bottom-right corner. This isn’t essentially foolproof, but it does work on a lot of problematic Word files.
